The Predigtstuhl Cable Car

Grande Dame of the Alps

15,91 km from Salzburg Residence Palace

At the age of 91, it is considered the oldest original cable car cable car in the world to be preserved year-round: the Predigtstuhlbahn.

1928 took the "Grand Lady of the Alps" for the first time on their driving. Since then, she has left guests and locals alike in eight and a half minutes on the 1614-meter high mountain. A total of 1140 vertical meters and a track length of 2380 meters are overcome with the help of 250 hp, before the technical monument reaches the summit station. On the way, the inmates enjoy unique views of the mountains, funny anecdotes from the conductor and sometimes even the sounds of his harmonica.

The classic aerial tramway works extremely energy efficient. Two cabins each drive synchronously up and down, with the descending carriage pulling up the mountain.
