The Salzkammergut Lake District Bike Trail

The Salzkammergut cycle path is 345 km long. The difference in altitude amounts to a total of 1,850 cumulative metres of ascent. The path is signposted with the above-mentioned signs in both directions. R 2 (in Upper Austria), R 19 with the inscription "Salzkammergut Radweg" (in Styria), green boards with the inscription "Salzkammergut Radweg" (in Salzburg).

Most of the route is asphalted. Exceptions are the forest roads Bad Mitterndorf - Gössl/Grundlsee and Blaa Alm - Rettenbachalm - Bad Ischl. You should take a week"s time for the whole round.

Some stages can also be covered by bus, train or boat. The Salzkammergut Cycle Path is a round trip, and in principle you can start at any point along the route.
