The old water mill

The old water mill was built in the 17th century and was used to grind the corn. It was in use up to 1958. Six farmers were the owner of the water mill. A horse teared a sledge with the bags of corn to the water mill. During the winter time each farmer could use the water mill for one week to grind his corn and oat. During this time you could hear the rattle of the mill day and night. The farmer even slept in the mill.

The tourism office and the community of "Scheffau" restored the water mill 1975 to save it for our inheritents. It is a cultural monument.
