Around 1660, Archbishop Guidobald Thun of Giovanni Antonio Dario built the Dombögen. In the middle of the square is the 1766 - 1771 by Wolfgang and Johann Baptist Hagenauer for Archbishop Sigismund Graf Schrattenbach created Marian column.
Today, the square is used for major events, concerts and open-air plays. In addition, the cathedral square in front of the impressive cathedral is a popular promenade for tourists, locals and street performers!
